This blog was born out of a couple of loves and a couple of people.
First, my old boss Brian Dawson, told me to do some college programming that I was passionate about—so I picked Geeks. I did a week of Geek programming for a couple of years and found it to be very successful. People came together—community happened.
Second, I love writing.
Third, I attended the World Domination Summit (more, much more about this later) and I spoke to many people saying, “What do you think of this idea, about what a blog for people who work at colleges. “Hell yes!” they said. (A couple of my heroes encouraged me to do this—Pam Slim and Leo Babtua. Read their sites.)
This blog is about surviving and thriving in the residential life world. I’ve been a Resident Director for 8 years and have faced a ton of stuff. I’ll write tips and tricks about making the most positive impact on the residential community and I’ll post about geeky activities you can do with the geeks in your resident halls.
Please forgive me if I use the term Resident Directors. I know they there is a plethora of different terminology out there: Community Directors, Area Directors, Supreme Ninja, Those Who Walk in the Night, etc.
We are going to get started soon. Stay tuned, check your email and walk quietly.
